What is anatomy? According to the Oxford Dictionary anatomy is “the branch of science concerned with the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other living organisms, especially as revealed by dissection and the separation of parts.” We have the technology now to make our own anatomy by making limbs, bones, or anything a human would need. Artificial Limbs are body parts that are made from lightweight metals such as titanium and aluminum. Many people will get prosthetic limbs if they have lost a limb such as a leg or an arm.
The first prosthetic limb was created by the Ancient Egyptians. It was made of cartonnage - a paper mache material made out of linen, glue, and plastic. The oldest known prosthetic leg was crafted by Romans from bronze and iron with a wooden core. Many people take their limbs for granted because the human body is an amazing creation. Artificial Limbs are also commonly used for dogs and cats as well. They also make artificial limbs for fingers, toes, ears, eyes, and noses but they still all fall under the label of prosthesis. |
John Hopkins university made a Mind-Controlled Bionic arm that does everything a real human arm can do. It has thousands of sensors that connect to your mind and move the arm. A local lady, Melissa Loomis, was stopping her dogs from attacking a racoon so she grabbed her dogs and the racoon latched onto her forearm. She went to the hospital and the doctor told her that it was either she gets her arm amputated or she dies. So she got her arm amputated and has been having a difficult time trying to do regular things she use to do like cooking, getting ready, and many other things. She is now getting a bionic arm that is mind controlled so she can feel like she can do everything she used to do.
