The catacombs of Paris are an underground network of tunnels. They were originally used to move people during the plague in 1786 and have since become a place for religious practices. Right under the feet of people in Paris are the bones that line the catacombs, which are there because of the overflow of bodies at cemeteries in 1786. The city of Paris took 12 years to move 6-7 million bodies under ground into the catacombs.
