Started in 2013 and out of Los Angeles, this four piece band has shown plenty of promise with the sound of indie rock and post punk. Since the evolution of bands is never unheard of the group had certainly been surprising most with a deviation from their norm implementing texture and sounds akin to an orchestra in a dreamy, glitchy state. Members include Austin Feinstein (vocals/guitar), Dylan Thinnes (guitar), Jackson Katz (Drums), and Aaron Jassenoff (Bass).

A band out of Brooklyn that has been making a grandiose rise to many avid music lovers with their first album “Masterpiece” receiving overwhelmingly positive reception. Started in 2015, this band has been trust into the scene as another indie rock sound with many roots in folk music. The band has been getting traction the “old-fashioned way” by a constant and respectful stream of touring to make the viable connections needed to stay afloat. Their sound could be described as a slice of americana as the “old-fashioned way” remains a theme for the group. Members are Adrianne Lenker (vocals/ guitar), Buck Meek (guitar), Max Oleartchik (Bass), and James Krivchenia (drums).

Hitting the scene hard in 2013, Inner Wave has continued to surprise and inspire those jaded by the industry. The five part group includes Pablo Sotelo (guitar/vox/vocals), Jean Pierre Narvaez (bass/vox), Chris Runners (keys/vox), Elijah Trujillo (guitar/keys), and Luis Portillo (drums).

One of the most outstanding groups on this list, Ezra Collective has proven wildly successful in the combinations of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and afrobeat. Originating in London, this group seems to have a mission statement to fundamentally transform the genre of jazz to be something that connects with modern audiences without losing many to the history of the sound. Using textures and sounds from hip-hop the group has a habit of making some of the most relaxing and soulful entries to their singles and albums. The five piece Ezra Collective may just be a precursor to the further evolution of jazz, funk, and soul that doesn’t fill any with fear of loss in translation. The members of this group are Femi Koleoso on drums, TJ Koleoso on bass guitar, Joe Armon Jones playing keys, Dylan Jones, and James Mollison playing the saxophone.
